Maybe 3.5 stars, not 4. But, I enjoyed it.
I have read Poirot in the past, but it has been a while so it's apt for me to consider this as my 2nd read in his series. And a pattern is already popping out - the characteristic traits of both Poirot and Hastings and how they influence the plot or the progression. Could be annoying for some, especially Hastings' but not much of a bump.
For me, the most enjoyable parts, that didn't unfold till the very end, were the red herrings. Christie gave us structure and then simplified the motives. I liked that. There were some seemingly loose ends and one or two details at the end which seemed forced or unnecessary.
Good, fun, and a quick read.

Newest addition to my Agatha Christie list! I thought it was alright.
The idea of someone trying to challenge THE Hercule Poirot with a series of murders and defiant letters was intriguing. I wasn't very invested in the book at first, but it grew little by little on me as the pages went on. The interactions between Poirot and Hastings were hilarious, as always!
There was at some point a small idea in the back of my head that said "Wait, there is no way that the mystery can be solved this easily! There must be some sort of twist 🤔". And of course, Agatha Christie never disappoints with her twists! I never saw it coming!
A very intriguing read!

A great Poirot mystery. A quick read, because it is hard to put down. A series of murders begins to happen in alphabetical order, and even though Poirot and Scotland Yard have advance warning, the murderer goes on defiantly and unstoppably committing them.
Agatha Christie gives the reader, at least, the feeling that they have as much information as the famous detective, so conclusions can be drawn early, making the ending even more surprising and interesting.
