While I liked some of this book, it had the same problem I find in almost every second-chance romance I read. All of the romance between the two love interests is in the flashback chapters, and there's almost none in the present day chapters.

With this book in particular, I just never saw why these two got together in the first place or why they'd get back together at all. The most interesting parts of this for me were the wedding planning details and Ama's interactions with Hazel and Jackie. When I don't even care about the romance in a romance novel, I can confidently say it's not for me.

I decided to read this book to support the debut of one of my favorite Dramione fan fiction writers - lovesbitca8. Her writing style is very recognizable, especially in some tender moments, expectantly good spicy scenes, and small miscommunication moments that I usually don't like from other authors but I easily can eat up from Julie Soto. So yeah, I still appreciate and adore the writing. But I guess that romantic comedies are definitely not for me, and I still need some interesting and heavy/dark plot behind the romance subplot.

To be honest, I despise wedding planning and am not interested in weddings at all. However, the flowers bit had a nice touch, and I love it when it's mentioned that each flower can say something. Being a florist is quite a unique job for a grumpy man. The angst and pining were all there, and it was quite nice between all the things I was not interested in. For a romantic comedy, there was not so much romance present, and I didn't really believe in the crazy love they felt towards the end of the book because there were too few pages about them among all the wedding planning. But one more signature thing from the author that I like is that her main male characters always do big gestures and display their feelings through a lot of actions. And I love it.

I was not interested even a little bit in Ama's competition with her ex-boss. And the way it was handled in the end, it was a little bit overdramatic not in a good way.

So I cannot say it was a bad book. I mostly rely my rating on the fact that I usually do not enjoy romantic comedies and am absolutely not interested in anything about weddings. But as for Julie Soto, I am really happy about her debut as a published writer and I wish for her many amazing ideas. And if hopefully her next published works will include some dark fantasy, I will be there waiting.
