I don’t think this authors writing is for me. In my opinion there are too many subplots that distract you from the overall main plot line and I was left thinking “wait what happened?”

I didn't know what to expect from this book as I've never read this author and wasn't familiar with his work, but I really enjoyed it! His writing style and the general story reminded me of S.A. Cosby whose books I love! Set in southern Minnesota in the 1950's, when the ill-will toward Indians and the Japanese was still rampant. The story ultimately one of a mystery of dead man found in the river, eaten by the resident catfish. A man who was not well-liked and who many in the town had reason to want gone. Throughout the story we get to know A LOT of characters; so many that I actually had to print out a character list to reference throughout the book. There were numerous twists throughout the book, some I saw coming, others I didn't. Each added to the depth of the story. I also really enjoyed the audiobook narration, performed by CJ Wilson, who also sounds like the narrator of SA Cosby's books. I highly recommend this one!
