This book and The Dark Isle are good to introduce middle grade readers to the fantasy genre. Female lead character makes this a good choice for middle school girls.

Sequel to “Dark Isle”. Two months after saving the kingdom, Morag is haunted by bad dreams. She and her friends will need to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of several magical items in order to save the kingdom and triumph over evil again. A complicated world with interesting magical gadgets will make this series appeal to fantasy readers. Less skilled readers will struggle with the complexities. It also helps to have read the first book before tackling this one.
