Chronicles the behind the scenes of 7 teen shows (Fresh Prince of Belair, My So-Called Life, Dawson's Creek, Freaks and Geeks, the OC, Friday Night Lights, and Glee) of the 90s and 2000s -- some massive hits and some one season cult classics -- and revealed some interesting webs between diversity in TV, the behind-the-scenes creative forces like writers, directors, and showrunners who were influenced by the experiences and moved onto other projects that are important mainstays of TV and film, and launched the careers of young actors that are A-listers now. However, it is mostly the behind the scenes of the TV shows. I wish there had been more of the "transformed television" analysis as promised in the subtitle. But as a teen tv apologist, it was fine enough read.
