Millennials (even elder ones like yours truly) will likely get a kick out of Glassman’s book, even if you follow my lead and skim the sections on the TV shows that never quite piqued your interest. The chapters about My So-Called Life, Dawson’s Creek, and Friday Night Lights were my faves.

The Story:

I finished this just under the October 31st buzzer. I love books like this. I feel like I learn something, I'm entertained, and the subject matter includes two shows I loved (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Glee). I’d be interested in seeing this author explore other shows/genres.

If nothing else, this book reminded me that, despite growing up in a not very open-minded-to-queer-people world, Rickie Vasquez of My So-Called Life just went straight to my heart. I adored him. So hey, friendly reminder that representation matters for kids who aren't members of certain groups too.

(This book was a fun time, I just felt like there wasn't a *ton* of new stuff, and I wish there'd been a bit more of a throughline connecting the shows and why the author chose them to feature.)
