Third in the series of these great original stories. Next three ordered
I'm impressed because these are getting even more fun! This was hilarious but also I was gripped by the story. I can't believe these books have sat in my Audible library for literally years and I'm only just reading them now.

The third book in the Rivers of London series is a good step up from the second book. The novel returns to more of a focus on the police procedural with a magical twist. We see new magical events and characters in this book. We also see more of Leslie, who after some surgeries is back to police work, albeit with the Folly rather than the murder team. The overarching plot of the faceless magician still has moments in this book but it takes a little more of a backseat to the main plot of this novel.
I cannot say enough how much I enjoy Kobna Holdbroook-Smith's narration of these novels. His voices are consistent across books, his accents are mostly on point. His accent for the American agent in this book was a little off, but nothing horrible. Leslie's voice is more intelligible in this book, although sometimes harder to hear but it fits and reminds us that Leslie's face is still damaged from events in the first book. The narration is a large part of why I continue listening to these books. I'm sure I will continue the series as I can.

I really love the setting, the story is intriguing and the main character is hilarious.
But, for some reason, I don’t find the endings as satisfying as I usually do with novels of the same/similar genre (mystery). Regardless, it’s still a very enjoyable read!
