A quick read that gave some fun and interesting insight into Lowe's life and work. His writing can be very engaging and succeeds the most when he's focused on the story rather than being cute with his writing. For example: his stories about auditioning and filming The Outsiders are compelling and vivid. Too often, though, he goes for a reveal - "And that girl I met... turned out to be Sarah Jessica Parker." "And her name... was Daryl Hannah." These come off as lazy and insincere, while the Outsiders stories are genuine and even moving, despite just as many names being dropped.

I realize that running in the circles he has for most of his life, he's met LOTS of famous people. But it still felt like a book full of name dropping and bragging. It's was a mildly entertaining book, glad I can read it for free from the library.

Loved it!

i admit it, been looking forward to this book forever. i love rob lowe and his hits reminded me of my teen years..... i enjoyed it, like him as much/more now, and don't feel guilty at all for reading this :-)

3.5 stars

Surprisingly good read. Really fun stories. Makes me love him even more now:).

Wow! What a life Rob Lowe has lived-a wild ride! The title fits perfectly.

More like 3.5 stars. I didn't know Rob Lowe's story, and it was fascinating hearing him talk (I read the audiobook) his friendship with the Sheens and others like they are normal human beings (surprise! They are!). That's what I love about celebrity autobiographies... The person gets to share a piece of themselves, and Rob is no different. His stories are fun and engaging, and sometimes sad. I appreciate his honesty about sobriety and his upbringing. I hope he writes more in the future because I think there are more insights buried that he glossed over in favor of highlight reels. In other words, I wish he had gone a little deeper.

Off to watch the west wing reruns….

Pretty great memoir. I wish he would have gone into the depth that he did on The Outsiders on some of his other biggest projects. I was also expecting more on the fallout from the DNC scandal.
