Manyara and Nyasha are sisters; Manyara is selfish while Nyasha is kind. When the king seeks a wife Manyara leaves during the in order to secure her chances of becoming queen. She crosses paths with many travelers all who ask something of her, little does she know that these are tests set before her by the king himself. Nyasha awakens the next morning and crosses the same travelers and treats them with kindness which impresses the king. Beautiful paintings fill the pages and frame the text. The people are so realistic the pictures often resemble photos. Great folktale from Africa.

A great story! I believe it's a story from the Kaffir Folktales. The setting is in Zimbabwe using the ruins, fauna, and flora of this African region. A beautiful book about how being kind and generous can get you further than being mean and greedy.
