This African tale, similar to Cinderella, tells the story of a two sisters - one good and kind and the other lazy and selfish. The beautiful illustrations are a tale in themselves.

Illustrated by John Steptoe.

Love, love, love this book! A beautiful story that is equally beautifully illustrated!

Beautiful illustrations, and a very nice story that includes why one should welcome snakes in the garden.

A nice tale with beautiful art. But everything was too black and white - the good sister and the bad sister. And yet it definitely captured the feel of a different place and time. A bit wordy for a picture book though. 3.5 of 5.

This is a beautiful (both written and illustrated) rendition of a traditional African Folktale, that is set in Zimbabwe. I loved this book when I was little and as an adult, it still pulled some heartstrings as well. I highly recommend this book.
