Five years ago, the people of the Gerbera Subdivision in Fallen Oaks were brutally murdered. Only children made it out of that nightmare alive and are now known as The Fallen Five. On the five year anniversary of the murder, each survivor is contacted with a threat. When they all reach out to meet again, they decide to find out what happened all those years ago once and for all. The trouble is, with the case gone cold and not a lot of answers, the Fallen Five don't know who they can trust or even if they can trust one another to uncover the truth.

I loved the concept of this one. Kiersten is the QUEEN of unexpected storylines with a fresh take on thriller/mystery. Personally, I would have loved a more sinister ending (but I guess that's just the darkness in me) and maybe even some more on the actual night of the murders. This was quick read for me - finished in one day after 1-2 sittings. Just another book to prove that Kiersten Modglin is a literary psycho-killer genius and I can't get enough.

Didn’t enjoy this one as much as dinner of her others but still some good plot twists that you don’t see coming.

It was good enough and really bingeable and then the ending ruined it. That wasn’t an ambiguous ending it was just weird.

This was a quick, fun thriller. There was a lot of story packed into a fairly short book, at just under 300 pages.

It was twist upon twist, and I fully enjoyed it. Was able to finish all in one sitting and was enthralled by the story the entire time.

I loved how it all came together. I forgot how much I loved Modglin's writing and will have to finish up her backlog.

Meh. Interesting premise. Boring execution. Unlikeable characters. Not thrilling or exciting. Predicted the twist. Why do I keep doing this to myself?

I’ve been binge reading Ms. Modglin’s books, and I have really enjoyed most of them. In fact, this story was the only one so far that I didn’t like all that much. The plot was too far-fetched. The main character’s internal narrative seemed repetitive and kind of irritating to me. And overall, it just didn’t stand up to her other plots. But I still would recommend this author. Her books have been a lot of fun. Maybe just skip this one.

While well written, this isn’t one of my favorites from this author. Didn’t pull me in and took me a bit longer to get through than her books typically do.  While the story line was good and the ending was alright, the characters were lacking depth and I didn’t connect with any of them.

How do you move on when strangers slaughter a whole neighborhood and you are one that survived!?! Can you move on or are you constantly looking over your shoulder with fear!?!
