The main character is so blindly obsessed with Rachel, as the reader you tend to forget her own name is Ann. Even though everything including characters choices (or fates) came together in the end, the book itself was rather slow and in my opinion contained a lot of missed potential.

Although I felt the suspense for the first 3/4 of the book was explained instead of actually feeling it, I love the characters, their complex relationships, and their development. The payoff of the end was fantastic. I loved the moment at the end when I finally understood the significance of the readings from the cards and everything fit together.
cool premise. i liked the "was rachel orchestrating everything, or was it fate?" concept. but it was all so TAME like cmon get freaky with it...

I really enjoyed this book! The museum backdrop and all the art and linguistics and dark academia things were wonderful! I do wish they had gotten a little more into the occult and mystical. It was heading that way but then it was just like stoic art students suddenly killing. And in kind of a boring way. Also I knew who the killer would be, and I feel like she should have gotten caught tbh. I didn't in the least bit expect the twist with ann though. And i did love when she did the drawing for rachel. But why was the boathouse on fire? And then not mentioned again? no one was suspicious that Rachel went sailing in a storm with the boathouse on fire? anyway it was a mysterious, dark academia rollercoaster, it just ended up a smaller drop than I expected.
I wanted to like it and it sounded like something I'd enjoy but I could almost immediately tell I was going to find it dull. I dragged myself through it and there were some interesting bits but it just never hooked me and I didn't really react to things in the plot because I didn't really care.
