Fate or betrayal? If one worked in academia, one would need to watch their back.

Run of the mill murder mystery. Nice atmosphere, and great writing. But the twist reveals were silly imo.

Audio:

Started off as a strong 3.5 stars and maintained that for a long time, until I realized, “Wait, I’m 70% into the book and nothing truly interesting has happened.”

I was disappointed in the “events” that very quickly happened at the end and the lack of logic that was applied. I have to admit that I largely read this book because it had the “Today Show Book Club Pick. “ I won’t be so dumbly guided again.

The first 25% of the book is the best part.

Thank you to @Libro.FM for a an audio copy of this title in exchange for my honest review.

This book is everything you would want in a dark academia. Gave me Secret History vibes, but had the occult element verses Greek. Loved it! I see a big complaint readers have is the slow start....but that is how a lot of dark academia books are, especially the Secret History. The author really sets the mood and atmosphere, and continues to build until the final twist!
