I liked this book. There’s a lot of urban fantasy about at the moment, Rivers of London, Alex Verus, etc etc Some of it is written rather better than the rest and this is one of those. Not too much in the way of the arcane or detecting so it initially comes across as a bit slight. I think that the amount of scene setting that had to be done didn’t leave much room for anything else. Lydia is a likeable protagonist, I hope some of the other characters become a bit more three dimensional too. As I’ve just started the second book I’ll let you know!

It was an easy read, cosy mystery. 

Had a poor magic system, that didn't really appear relevant.
