A very practical introduction to Italian folk magic, and one I feel I can trust in its accuracy/authenticity. I'll be using this as a reference over and over.

It’s difficult to find resources on Italian folk magic and superstition, so I was overjoyed to find this book. It’s an easy read, and I found myself nodding and laughing because there were so many aspects that related to my family traditions. Lots of fun.

Can't rate or review this one yet. I need to do a reread with the physical copy in front of me. It's so detailed that with the audiobook alone, my brain couldn't hold onto everything it needed to.

I’m not going to rate this because the parts that I hated - I really hated… but that’s specific to me. And I do appreciate this for the parts that I did feel are for me - which is kind of what the author said she was going for anyway

I learned so much about my Italian hertiage and was shown/reminded of the magic I was being taught as a child. A lot of the text was relatable to my family memories. Thank you!

A gem. I felt close to my ancestors and heritage reading this. Little quirks that I remember from childhood that I am just now learning the reference or meaning of. Highly recommend for anyone interested in Italian heritage, folk magic, spirituality, or understanding why their mom or grandmother was the way she was lol.

Book: Italian Folk Magic: Rue's Kitchen Witchery
Author: Mary-Grace Fahrun
Rating: 5/5

I have read this book many times and still find myself reaching for it. At this point, I view IFM as more of a reference book. Mary-Grace writes her tales in such a way that you feel like family, sitting at the table and chatting with Aunts and Uncles while learning about the malochio. Since I recently moved to Naples, Italy, I wanted to learn more about their version of magic and superstitions. This was an excellent find. The authors family was based in the southern regions of Italy and I find myself stumbling across many of the items and locations that she references. I would highly recommend this book for anyone with Italian background or just anyone who has an interest in other cultures and magic categories.
