This was a really sweet book written from the perspective of Black Beauty. Two things I didn't know about this book before reading it: 1. That Black Beauty is a male horse (I always thought he was a female horse) and 2. It's his autobiography (which if I'd ever read the subtitle I would have known!). Anyone who is an animal lover would really enjoy this book - I love how Anna Sewell has really tried to get into the head of what it would be like to be a working horse in the 1800s.

In my horse-girl era. This was just a really nice book. I don’t think I’ve every really read like an anthropomorphism book and it was just really sweet. It is interesting when taken in context with modern views of animal welfare compared to animal rights. That aside, it was short, it was pretty, there was some action, and it had a nice message!
