I remember starting this when I was kid, as my grandparents collected these deals in the newspaper where each week you could use the token to collect one of their classics. It was such a cute promotion to get people reading, and I never for the life of me know what I did with that bag of classics!
Anyway, memory over, it was time to get back to Black Beauty and hear the story of a horse, from youth to his forever home.
This was such an emotional story (I don't know how I didn't cry!). Black Beauty had been through so many hands, some highlighting the cruelty of people, whilst others showing the kindness the world can offer. He experienced it all and really had my heart in a vice grip.
Ginger's story within in Black Beauty's account was heartbreaking. Treated roughly from the start and passed from cruelty to cruelty, my heart ached for her.
What a beautiful classic. I don't think I can eloquently present my thoughts for this one, but it was wonderful.

Black Beauty has been one of my favorite stories since I was a little girl, when I watched the 1994 film repeatedly, as much for my love of English accents as for my love of horses. For many years, this book was the source of all my knowledge of horse-related vocabulary and horse care. And even now, having had experience with caring for horses in life as well as in my imagination, I would say that this book has served as a solid foundation for how animals ought to be treated. Good lessons, no violence, no objectionable language - the opinions expressed in this book are VERY slanted, though, and while opposite opinions are acknowledged, they're given little ground and no justification. I highly recommend reading this with a group or with an adult so intelligent discussion and research can supplement the lessons found in this story.

i adore this novel- i adore it with my entire heart.
Read with my 11 year old. He thought it was boring. I haven’t seen the movie for over 20 years but the book had my brain have random flash backs of the movie.

For as short as this book is, it took me a long time to read. It did tend to drag on and on for most of the book.
I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. It age definitely shows.

The first book I've read few years back.Simply touching.
I read this book as an adult. I don't think I would have liked it as a child because there is a lot about animal cruelty.
