It's interesting to hear about a horse's life from the POV of the actual horse. Based on animal temperament, I'm sure it's actually pretty close to how they feel when treated well versus when treated poorly. I love the owners who just let Black Beauty be a horse instead of focusing on how he could serve them.

Very sweet and heart-warming (and sometimes heart-breaking) story that took me back to my beginnings as an equestrian, as I rewatched the movie over and over.
This classic story is very engrossing. As an adult its a fairly fast read. There are definitely points where it is upsetting to any animal lover, but the author has a way of making you want to keep going despite that.

Quite slow paced, but the amazing writing style made up for it. Cried multiple times and felt so engaged with all the characters, even tho we're only with them for a couple chapters.

I hate the lying cunts York and Reuben for not keeping promises. Sweet Ginger did not deserve to go through all that again and beauty never had to know it. George ain't any better.
Love the insights this book gave me. This book has so many implications about protests and rallys for horse welfare. The fact that horse mistreatment was a serious crime is so weird in a world where bairing reigns are normal.
