A fascinating view into the political and social life of diplomatic Berlin as Hitler rose to power in 1933-34. Erik Larson is so good at bringing real people to life as compelling characters, and spinning stories from real events. Excellent and highly recommended.

Interesting story, and the topic i seem to be obsessed with these days. Erik Larson seems to write about fascinating subjects, but im not always so sure they are written in a compelling style.. Isn't it just a compelling topic?

I liked this book, it’s good. You have a front row seat at watching these people realize the world is burning around them. Very engaging, but that said it’s not my favorite book of his.
