Bonus points for Rilla being an absolute lovely heroine, the scene with the dog at the end that had tears streaming down my face, and the fact that I learned more about WWI from this book than ever in history class.
Originally I wanted to give it 4.5⭐️ because I have to admit that Susan's obsession with the president went on my nerves during the whole book and so did most of her other speeches.
But I really enjoyed the rest of it and it was a great ending for the Anne series that will always have a place in my heart!

This book is slightly different to the others of the series and I put off reading it for a few months. Though when I did actually come around to reading it I found out it was a compelling story showing us a little bit into the Blythe's life during WWI. It was a pleasure to read as Rilla matured into a young woman, having to let go out childish antics and put on a brave face for life during the war. Seeing the characters grow up during the series has been a joy, and I can't wait to read the whole thing once again!

This book is worth reading 'and that you may tie to', as Susan would say! I've enjoyed the whole Anne of Green Gables series and this was no exception. I only wish there were more! This book was set in World War I and reading during the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of what Rilla is experiencing is very relatable. I felt pleased to see Rilla grow as a person throughout the book and I liked seeing Anne's world from a different perspective. A really enjoyable read!
Very charming books! But what happened to Dora? And Marilla and Rachel? They weren't mentioned in the later books, other than a brief mention that Marilla had died.
