This was fun, it felt like the selection in the beginning but by the end the story was different. I may have cried a little and I am saddened at what happened. I can't wait to see how it concludes

That was unexpected. It wasn't until about halfway through that things started to get interesting and then - well, it was very unexpected, to say the least. Bring on book two.

I was extremely excited about this new series by Kiera Cass. I was more irritated by the characters than loving the story. Hollis has found favor with the king and he wants her to become his queen. He shows her special favors, gives her gifts and even moves her to better rooms. Until a new family moves into the kingdom and the son catches Hollis off guard.

It was a good story but just not what I was hoping for but I will read the next one to see what happens.

No words. Literally, i can't even describe the desperation I felt reading this.
I can't believe I actually paid money for that.

“It’s called a citrine. If you, Hollis Brite, were a star, you’d be the sun. If you were a bird, you’d be a canary. And if you were a stone, you’d be a citrine.”

I’m not sure if there is going to be a sequel to this book or not. This is a feminist retelling of sorts through and through.

Hollis is an amazing woman or Lady. She will not refrain from telling you how she feels whether your her mother or King. I could see her being taught how to slay with a sword!

I love Hollis’s character development through out the book because you can tell she is growing not just as a young lady but as someone whom loves the world and sees no hate.

The last 50 pages of the book you think this is going to end happily ever after and it definitely DOESN’T. I need the full back story on the darkest knights ASAP please. I’m kind of hoping some of the characters who get indisposed in the first book comeback in the second but then again, you can’t revive the dead or ARE THEY DEAD?!
