Okay, what cat-loving librarian could resist this story of a small town librarian and the cat that adopted the library as his home. Although the title of the book is Dewey for the cat, this book is also the story of the librarian, Vicki Myron, who saw the value in the small creature who was found in the book drop on a cold Iowa morning.

bagusnya adalah karena banyak banget insight mengenai perpustakaan dan kepustakawanannya. minusnya terjemahannya yang nggak oke, boring, dan berbelit.

I love animals. I pursued my passion for them by working with them for a lot years; in pet stores, shelters, clinics and emergency care so it was no surprise to me to read about how one animal could affect so many lives. This is a heart-warming and reassuring book about the connections that people can have with animals.
What I wasn't expecting about this book was the story of the narrator Vicki, her story was just as captivating as Dewey's and the two followed each other well. She really did have quite a bit of tragedy in her life, I can't imagine having to face some of the trials that she did. She attributes some of her strengths and triumphs to Dewey and that's amazing. I can't imagine what it would have been like to.
I'm thankful that books like this exist. It restores my faith in the world a bit.

At once a love letter to small-town America, and to the bonds that form between animals and their human caretakers, Dewey is a charming (if sometimes simplistic) book told through a series of vignettes about incidents in the lifetime of a tiny orange cat that makes a tiny library his home for nearly twenty years.
Within its pages, Myron shares the triumphs and tribulations of a small town striving to survive in a world that seems determined to leave small towns in the past. She shares anecdotes about Dewey, the library's cat that becomes a symbol of hope to so many, and along the way also shares anecdotes about the town's timeline as well, demonstrating what champions of small towns so often try to convey: that the uniqueness of small town life is in its individuals that create the community they live in, the individual-ness that can so often become lost in large cities when most don't even know the names of the people they live next to.
Is this a book that is life-changing and must be read? No, not really. But as a lover of both libraries and cats, I found it sweet and it made me cuddle my kitty even more than I already do.

This book was a pleasure to read and is for everyone, not just cat-lovers!
Just. Couldn't.
I love love love cats, but I stopped when I found out they named him Dewey Readmore Books and that the director spent days carrying the cat around the library. I wish I could spend my work hours carrying a cat around the library!
