I can’t say I enjoyed this since so much of it made me so mad, but it’s well-written and researched, and well worth reading

This book should be required reading for anyone who was parented, knows parents, or hopes to parent.

This book spoke directly to my experience as a single parent. It's a powerful reminder that single parents deserve recognition and support. A must-read for anyone navigating the challenges of raising children solo.

3.5 stars? 4? This book is hard to rate.
The subject matter is both important and compelling, however this book took me some serious time and focus to get through (and 20% of it is citations!).
I knew about a lot of the basic ideas from this book from a Sociology of Gender class in college when I remember reading an article about how even "egalitarian" couples had a totally unbalanced proportions of time spent handling house- and child-related work.

It is terrifying to think that the man I care about (who shares the same progressive ideals as I do) and I could fall into this trap if there is not an overt, regular dialogue about it in our relationship, especially when children become involved.
This book was important to read and will be even more important to keep in mind when I get to the potentially stickier points of a relationship dynamic, but I would say there were definitely points against it for ease of reading.
I'm willing to work for a book if it's worth it, but I don't love one that feels like a slog and can imagine anyone on the fence would potentially throw in the towel partway through.

In sum: truly important subject matter but not as friendly to a newbie to the subject as perhaps it could or should be to keep them reading (but hopefully I'm wrong!)

The title of this book is so incredibly apt. I felt so much rage reading it. It’s a well written and illuminating book that everyone, regardless of gender, should read.
