This was an amazing read. A Muslim infiltrating in Al Qaida cell to try and get them arrested. I really enjoyed the way the took the time in this book to interpret the parts of the Quran that are often used by jihadist to explain there actions not translated to how it was meant.
It is very interesting to read about this experience trough the yes of someone who is practicing the religion. This book reads as an exciting thriller most of the time and just when you think this is fiction something happens to make you realize it is not. I learned new views on the Islam from this book and I feel more people should read it to get informed better.

4.5/5 Stars; Also Letter E in my Alphabet Reading Series

The overarching message of inclusivity and the embracing of different cultures is much needed in this day and age.

Although it took me a while to finish this book, I'm glad I did. Tamer did a great job at keeping the thrill and suspense within the book. It's well-written, the story is narrated in a great way, and the book sheds insight on how American Muslims feel about the "Islamic" fighters abroad. If you enjoy thrill-seeking/spy stories, you should give this book a try.

Terrorism affects each person differently, many are interested yet appalled. This account was written in a way which commended the detective without sensationalising or praising the actions of the terrorists. Making this book interesting yet also respectful of those affected.

I don't do many audiobooks, but a colleague thought I might like this one since I'm a big fan of the tv show Homeland. What a great story! This gentleman's account of his days in undercover narcotics and later, counterterrorism investigations is absolutely thrilling. I'm thankful we have Americans who are willing to put their lives on hold to do this sort of undercover work, but I feel sorry for UC agents like Tamer. It's really hard to maintain any semblance of a normal life in his situation, and it obviously takes a toll on a person's mental state. This book also gives a little insight into the bureaucracy and politics that go into international investigations.

It was so eye-opening to read the account of a religious Muslim who is on OUR side of the battle against terrorism. I am aware of many American Muslims who seem fairly neutral, but Tamer Elnoury is spending his life actively infiltrating terrorist rings on Western soil and foiling their attempts to kill, destroy, and psychologically ravage.

This book follows his work on one intense case, in which he stops a terrorist who was planning an attack on a Canadian railway and on the Times Square New Year's celebration. While the plot itself was interesting enough, what I really took away from this book was a new perspective on the range and variety of Muslims.

The writing wasn't particularly impressive, and I was bothered by Tamer's often nasty language. A lot of the conversations must have come straight off surveillance recordings, because they would unexpectedly wander and just felt different from constructed dialogue. This is not literature, but overall I give American Radical 3.5 stars rounded up to a 4.
