This book was a 4.25 for me.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this novel. I found it interesting, really good, and it kept my attention! Everything came together in the end, and to be honest, I did not suspect it at all! Definitely really enjoyed reading this book!

Read this book as a kid/teen and absolutely adored it for years. It's in my favorite genre and getting to piece the story together with Jane is so rewarding.

Chilling, this book gave me goosebumps. It was slightly reminiscient of [b:Pretty Little Devils|7996677|Pretty Little Devils|Nancy Holder|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1270749100s/7996677.jpg|526451], but I loved it all the same.

5 Shades of Pretty Desperate

The cover quote says "as intense as it is poignant" and I'm inclined to agree. Vapid and discombobulated.

Jane and her 2 best friends are the most popular girls at their school. So why would someone run Jane over and leave her for dead in a giant rosebush? She's still trying to figure that out.
She wakes up in the ICU with no memory of the past day and no movement in her body. As the feeling slowly starts coming back (temporary paralysis or something?), so do bits and pieces of her memories. Now only if she could figure out what parts of her memories and reality are real and what part of them her mind is creating because according to her mother and doctors, she's cray cray. She's getting weird phone calls (maybe), creepy secret admirer gifts (everyone thinks they're nice!?!), and her boyfriend/guy friend/orderly boy-she-just-met-but-likes are all acting weird. She's got a long way to go to decipher this mess.

I liked this book a lot!! Asides from the whole someone tried to kill me, but I have amnesia thing, which is a little played out, I thought it was a really good book. Jane was such a likable, cute character. I could see everyone wanting to be friends with her. Some parts were a little unbelievable. Getting hit by a car and only having temporary paralysis and a concussion.... I think if she lived she would've been in a body cast with steel rods in her bones or something. And for high school, there was quite the number of romantic relationships/love interests!! Also I could've lived without Scott, his thing seemed a little pointless, but I guess you gotta have more than 1 suspect.
Overall I would recommend it. It has cute outfits, cute boys, and a mystery that keeps you guessing!
~I think I'm going to read more from this author... her writing style is awesome!

Jaffe made the comatose-mystery work, with a heroine who was as unlikable as she was real. The present day was interlaced with tantalizing snippets of what Jane remembered from the night she was nearly killed in a hit-and-run, and the clues are subtle but excellent. There are so many fantastic characterizations and interactions that it felt like much more than your average thriller.

Wow, this book kept surprising me. I had no idea who was the one, who ran Jane over and who was out to kill her. The story kept me guessing until the very end. I don't usually read mystery books but I really enjoyed this one.Plus, I really like the black cover with the red roses.

It took me a while to get into this book at first but once I did I was really curious about how everything would all tie together. I read the last half of the book in about a day after putzing around for a while with the first half. It was suspenseful but a little lame at times. I wanted to know what happened, but when things would be revealed, it didn't seem like there was a lot of evidence or lead up to it. It was just like well here's the facts, that's it, no interesting reveal.

The end didn't seem that realistic. I still don't exactly understand the "why" of it. It just seemed kind of thrown together. The pieces were there I guess, but I didn't see the motivation at all. I didn't go into it with too high of expectations though- I knew it would be an easy, not-too-substantial read. It was good for what it was. It kept my interest.
