Rehashed information I already know, I thought it was going to be something else.

Great reference book about Jewish life! I feel like I'm learning things I wish I knew growing up.

as a 17 year old british prospective convert, perhaps i dont fall into the primary target audience of this book (from what i can tell, born-jewish americans with mostly ashkenazi backgrounds and children). but it was a solid and interesting introduction to the spectrum of liberal jewish practices today. referring to questions about palestine and israel as “dinner-table debates” was definitely a choice.

My daughters attend a Jewish daycare and I was not at all familiar with most of the things they’re being exposed to. Especially appreciated all the backgrounds on the holidays they are learning about. This was a great intro to Judaism!

I like this introduction to liberal Jewish practice, and while I wish there was more about different kinds of traditional Jewish practice around the world, or more about theology and the contributions of feminists and recent social justice minded rabbis to Jewish thought, it is a solid place to start.
