Beginning was really good, but then the end sort of dwindled. Feels a little like trauma porn. But I am invested in the characters now. Wouldn’t call it good, but still would like to continue the series.

4.5 - what a debut. A strange book that with bolts of dark humour amidst a pretty bleak and sad backdrop. The protagonist Mona is so likeable and strangely relatable as she muddles through her early 20s grappling with childhood trauma, loneliness and just being a bit of a strange cat. Fantastic writing, excellent characters. Look forward to Beagin's future works.
