I could’ve finished it in one sitting but I took multiple breaks to tell my little sister about the story updates
She’s not a reader and I needed to talk to someone about it

Eh
This is very very similar in many ways to the recent horror movie, “Speak No Evil” in that (in the first half at least) this book is an uncomfortable exercise in watching people behave incredibly stupidly out of politeness and societal expectations. It’s extremely frustrating and uncomfortable. Personally, I found it unbearable and had to bail halfway in. (Which I also did for the climax of that movie, lol.)
I wouldn’t recommend this to people who have a similar low tolerance for that kind of thing. (Not that there is much here to recommend regardless.)

Loved it. Very suspenseful. Great plot twists.
If anything this book was thorough. An interesting concept and the author explored every nook and cranny if this was reality. It was way too heternormative and the views were outdated?? I though for sure this was written 2 decades ago but was gagged to see it was published in 2020. All the commentary about how the dad could t be the stay at home full-time care giver? Also all the shit about the dad watching porn? Like why is that an issues. Also everyone having a problem with the couple not being married. And the couple themselves feeling so guilty about these “affairs” they had- like ok have an open marriage its not that big a deal? ALSO so frustrating that the evil villain ‘miles’ gets away with so much. Like why didn't anyone confront him and get the police involved ? Anyone who has ever interfered with his agenda mysteriously winds up killed and no one thinks to investigate that further ?

This was a really well done psychological thriller with some pretty decent twists. It could have been shorter, but overall was good. Also, check the content warnings. Some of the issues were so realistically portrayed that it could be an upsetting read.
