A bit slow to start, but a really good book. The idea of two babies being swapped in the NICU is very scary and thought-provoking. I definitely had some "oh my goodness!" moments reading this. You can't help but feel bad for the parents. I really enjoyed the thriller elements as well - Miles was quite a character, and then Maddie's revelation at the end. Plus, I honestly had no idea that all of the case file elements throughout the book were about the murder and not the child custody battle. Kudos to the author for an excellent twist setup.

I usually really enjoy JP Delaney's books, but this one was just OK for me. The decisions that the main couple made were so weird (to me), and I struggled to enjoy the book because of the unlikely situations that these parents allowed themselves to be put into.

This was a totally fine book. I thought seeing the dynamic of two families dealing with swapped children was interesting. I wish it had been a bit more of a fast-paced thriller, but it kept my attention the whole time.

Now the 4th book I’ve read of Delaney’s and he is skilled at changing his writing style to fit the suspense needed to grip you. The storytelling for this book reminded me of Gone Girl with the switch between main character POV and case documents to unveil what is going on.

Although, I found the characters very annoying for the first half which made it harder to be gripped the whole way through. But, once they officially got charged (not a spoiler), the book massively picked up and I couldn’t put it down. It just took a while to get there.

It was fast paced due to its short chapters with lots of plot twists but I wouldn’t recommend it. He has other better written thrillers.

Playing Nice by JP Delaney
I give this book 4 stars
Pete Riley answers the door one morning to a parent's worst nightmare. On his doorstep is Miles Lambert, who breaks the devastating news that Pete's two-year-old, Theo, isn't Pete's real son - their babies got mixed up at birth.
The two families - Pete, his partner Maddie, and Miles and his wife Lucy - agree to try to find a more flexible way to share their children's lives. But a plan to sue the hospital triggers an investigation that unearths disturbing questions about just what happened the day the babies were switched.
What secrets lie hidden behind the Lamberts' smart front door? How much can they trust the real parents of their child - or even each other?
A thought provoking and gripping read..A page turner from start to finish.
