For a first book, this really kept me engaged. I like the young adult dystopian genre. On a scale of 1-10, I think that the level of world building done well was at a 7. Cassia is a likable heroine. The love triangle is evident, but it isn't bothersome. I knew there would be a love triangle before getting into it. It's fluidly written in first person present tense. I have the second book and am making progress on it. I think it had some great potential.

This wasn’t a moment, it was a minute

I'm giving this book 4 stars, though it's probably a 4.5 or even 4.75 book. The irony of it all was that because of the sheer number of distopian novels I've read, I was able to predict the outcome in "Matched" through the data of previous reading experience. It's ironic if you've read this book, anyway. Cassia defies society and it's big brother precepts for love: that of her grandfather, the boy she wasn't fated to love (or was she) and the love of a poem and the freedom that memorizing that poem brought her. She learns about her parents' love and the way that they keep the people they love safe within the narrow bounds of rebellion that Society allows.

I loved, LOVED, this book. The writing is beautiful. The world building is done well.

I really like Cassia as a heroine. She is smart, determined, vulnerable and afraid, yet brave. Her voice is honest, pure, and expressive, and it makes you want things to work out for her so badly. It is easy to feel her torments alongside her. The supporting characters are also amazing. It is refreshing to see a YA novel in which both parents are not only present, but also incredibly supportive, as Cassia's parents are.

The book moves along at a good pace, even though there is not a lot of traditional 'action' in this installment. Cassia's struggles for much of the book are internal, but the tension of her setting makes every thought feel like it could result in life or death. Cassia must always behave as though she is being watched. The suspense kept me reading late into the night.

The ending is not a cliffhanger; it leads the reader into the direction that the second book will take. When I finished reading it, I just had to hug it. It is one of my favorites of the year for sure.

could't find the option to take off this book. I stopped reading around chapter 8. too boring

It's horrible

4.5 stars -Well written with characters that are believable and consistent. I was entranced with their story and the search for meaning and truth in their lives. I hated the society and it's rules and loved the youth's struggles and questions. It was described at "Hunger Games light" i would agree it is and a bit more. Cliffhanger ending !
