Hello Fellow Book Lovers!
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and my book a little bit.
Jinx is a book I originally wrote when I was 15. However, it's changed a HUGE amount since then and I want to explain why. When I was 15 I spoke to a writer who was much older than me (in his fifties I think) and he told me that my writing was too descriptive and lacked real world experience. He told me to go and live my life, get some life experience and then start writing ...
So that's exactly what I did ... And I started my life experience by joining the British Army at age 18. I have now left the Army and have a husband and a young son and a dog. I now consider myself a published author.
Jinx will be my 6th published book and I have used my own experiences of being a British Army soldier to create my characters and give my readers a true and accurate representation of what it's like being a female in the British Army.
Now, the book is not all about being in the Army. It's a murder mystery and a suspense thriller rolled into one, with a tiny hint of romance, so hopefully it's got something for everyone.
Thank you in advance for supporting me!
Happy Reading!

I don’t know how I feel after listening to this audiobook, because I don’t think it was really a thriller, at least not what I consider a thriller to be.
Even if I have to say it kept me interested throughout and I was eager to keep listening, I think it was more like a memoir/romance packaged into a mystery.
The main protagonist Aimee Price is an ex-soldier who 12 years prior, after a war accident, struggled to function personally and in society, left with deep physical and mental scars. The only positive thing about that accident is that she managed to save her colleague Jones, although he doesn’t see it that way.
Amidst all of this, straight after her recovery she started a relationship with her army doctor and 2 days before they were due to marry, broke up with him. Now 12 years later, her ex fiance has been murdered and her ex colleague (whom she saved) has reappeared. Are the two things connected?
The book has a dual timeline with events in the past informing events in the present, helping the reader connect some of the dots. The murder in this story though, is not really the main focus, but Aimee’s path toward recovery is. The deep dive into the life of a female soldier was really interesting and eye opening, as well as the difficulty of coming back into society after a life threatening war accident.
The themes dealt in this book are very serious and dark, like suicide, abortion, inability to have children and mental illness, but I truly believe the author did an amazing job portraying them in an empathic way.
So, although I don’t think this was a thriller, I did enjoy it and I’m willing to read more from Jessica Huntley. There are also several tropes that some people might like, like second chance and enemies to lovers.
Thanks to the author for the audiobook and this is my honest opinion.

A very enjoyable thriller and whodunit. I enjoyed the time jump aspect as the characters were fleshed out, and found them very likeable. Would read more by Jessica Huntley.
Jinx a suspense thriller, set in different timelines, Aimee is a soldier in Afghanistan an explosion sees her both injured and a hero. The present timeline sees her previous life in the army collide with her current life following a murder of someone from her past.
Although there’s war mentions it’s riveting, really well written
Today is my day for the Jinx book tour, releases the 15th!
Hey all you have a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star book here! Jessica knocked it out of the park with this one!!
⚠️Trigger Warnings from the author:

Abortion/Unable to conceive children
PTSD/Depression/Panic attacks
M@rder/Death of a loved one Graphic injury detail
Se/ual harrassment
Wow! What a remarkable book! Jessica did an amazing job telling this story. I could not put this book down!! What a wild and thrilling ride. By bringing her own experience of being a British soldier, and a woman, she was able to show a true depiction in the life of a soldier.
This story is about British soldiers during a war, being attacked and severely injured and how they were affected during the after math. She brought to light how much physical and mental trauma can really effect someone's life. PTSD is horrible to cope with on a daily basis. I have someone extremely close to me that suffers with complex PTSD. I feel Jessica really handled this storyline with compassion and grace.
This book is also about so much more. Friendships, lies, deceit, and the character development really makes this book outstanding.
I can not say enough about this book. It's out NOW! Grab a copy!

What a great Thriller/Mystery!
Aimee Price was a British Soldier who saved a man’s life, she was hailed a hero.
Over a decade later, she still faces that trauma but now has a home of her own, a job and two best friends. But one day, Jones, the man she saved is arrested but is adamant he didn’t commit the murder.
But who is Aimee to believe, she has a history with the victim and Jones has a history of violence. She needs to find out the truth.
This was a page turner, I just couldn’t get through this book quick enough!
A fast paced and gripping thriller with such a great storyline and one that I really struggled to put down.
The story has multiple pov’s, then and now parts and gives a lot of information.
I give my full respect to any person who serves their country.
I liked the characters and I was truly shocked at who the real killer was even though it did cross my mind as a possibility.
The ending though, oh my god I cried, I cried real tears, it was a perfect way to end a book that covers some really dark topics.
This is quite a challenging book to give a star rating to because, personally, I think it was marketed wrong. Taken at face value as a thriller, I could give this 2⭐️, but reframe it as a murder mystery, second chance, enemies to lovers romance… then I’m willing to give it 4⭐️.
Set in different timelines and multiple POVs, Jinx follows Aimee Price in her short Army career and then catches up with her 12 years later, when one of her former colleagues has been murdered and the man she saved in Afghanistan is the prime suspect.
The author is a veteran, so the chapters dealing with Aimee’s Army experience are excellent. I am unsure of the authors experience with law enforcement, but this is where the whole thing fell apart for me. Having worked in the public sector and undergone the security clearance needed to work with the police, it is beyond unbelievable that Aimee could have hidden her past Army experience. And I can’t imagine a police force ever being so lackadaisical with a civilians ininvolvement in questioning a murder suspect… especially when they’ve just found out that civilian lied about her past, knew the victim and knows the suspect?!
Aimee continued to lie throughout the book, and honestly most of the time the things she was lying about just made no sense. Jones was right when he called DI Fields, DI Dimwit, because he really really was.
There was just too much going on, we had the mystery, the murder, the investigation, found family, army warfare, PTSD, rehabilitation, romance, mistaken identity. It was too much to make a cohesive thriller. I did like the twist at the end but it felt corny thrown in with everything else.
I think this would have been better as a second chance romance, focusing on Aimee recovering from her traumatic time in the Army and finding her place in the world. We could have still found out about James’s life after Aimee jilted him, we could have learnt more about Jone’s life etc I loved Aimee’s female friendships so would have taken more of that storyline too.

This is way outside of what I normally read but because I love this authors work, I gave it a chance. It was extremely well written, which I imagine was challenging because of all the military content. I found this book intriguing, and I actually learned some things also. If you like military thrillers, give it a go.
