This was almost as good as the movie — I felt myself getting sucked in and tense at times — but I gotta knock off a star for the weird storyline with Ellen Brody. I know it was a product of the times but ew.

I was rooting for the shark.

Great movie, book not so much. Feels like it was written by a rich guy in the 60’s.

crazy that two of my favorite movies have very rambly, infuriating, nonsensical at times books attached to them. i do have to say: this book is the type of bad that is sooo interesting to me I read it in like a day. glad I finally read even though it’s like 20% shark and 80% brody being a loser man

It was fantastic... until it wasn't. Overall, this is a wonderful, quick read that has an edge that puts it over the movie. The ending, however, was less than stellar. Though there are chapters dedicated to hunting down the beast, the death of the shark comprises a sentence on the last page. I just expected there to be a little more detail and wrap up in a book that spends a great deal of time explaining things in vivid detail.
