I'm so glad the movie cut out the Hooper story. this is rare but I enjoyed the movie more than the book.

This oddly feels like if someone wanted to adapt the film into a streaming series - unnecessary side plots, lots of talking, little character development.

The middle is stretched out to hell and back and matters nothing to the plot. If you told me Benchley wrote Part 1 and 3 and then need to fill out the book to get published I would believe you.

That said it’s a must for a die hard fan of the film if only to get the R-Rated Quint who screams at the shark that it’s an “uppity fuck.”
