Meh, was just kind of bored. Felt verrry similar to Facing West but I liked this less. It barely focused on the couple at all. There was basically no plot around their relationship, and somehow even though the entire book was focused on the custody battle, none of that really gets resolved by the end? It all happens pretty much off page before we're shuttled into a non-MC epilogue.

Might tap out of this series for now as the next in the series sounds too much like Jumping Jude and is not my fave trope at all. Also kind of over the billionaire-but-can't-tell-anyone thing.

Tully • Devon

….

“This is where my heart is.”

….

I love Tully.

….

“So be the right person.” // “Must have really been something.” // “I had a hammering need to be close to him, to touch him and connect to him.” // “Dunno, but when you’re touching me like this, I find I don’t care overmuch.” // “Sexy as fuck, and he can sit a horse.” // “We didn’t speak, but I felt miles closer to him than I had before.” // “You’re the best choice, Dev. I hope you know that.” // “What I truly wanted was to be soul-deep inside of him, permanently etched like an exquisite tattoo of intricate and loving words wrapped around his heart.” // “I made the best choice for all of us because that’s what family does.” …

Dev annoyed me a little with at first trying someone else to take Lellie. If not for that would been 5 stars. It was 4.5 though but here don't got that option.

Tully shows up with Lellie telling Dev he's her dad but it's Clea as day by just looking at her. Dev didn't know because he was helping a friend out 2 years back. It's also how he met Tully who was Katie friend and lawyer. Her parents were spitting mad that Dev gets Lellie and the wife even tries kidnapping at one point but that's stopped quick.

Dev is thought to be simple ranch hand and he had worked for Katie's grandparents who helped get him letter for Yale. Her parents don't like Dev, but he proves that he's more than capable and don't need any money since he does got his own after all.

The sex was hot between these two. I loved the moments with Lellie the most and she was adorable. I knew Dev would get her but the grandparents were snakes and even what Dev's parents pulled was cruel. He slowly comes to terms with his brother's death not being on his shoulders thanks to Tully and his friends. Wished had more them after got together with the sweetheart.
