It's not a bad book because it has impeccable writing!
It’s just no my type of a classic novel

Parts of it remain delightful, but the overall preachiness makes it pretty hard to read now. There is one truly upsetting incident with a dead pet bird and also a reference to corporal punishment, but in general most of what is going on remains relatable, in the general sense if not all the specifics.

Heart warming, if not infuriating in places. It made me reflect and take note. Touching.
