My entire heart as a book

Perfect cozy classic

I liked this a lot. Reminiscent of Austen but more lighthearted and less matrimonially centered. Overall a very charming book with lovely characters.

I didn't realize my ebook was actually 2 parts (Little Women and Good Wives) and thought I was never going to finish it. I've stopped at the end of #1 and will come back eventually to the series. I did enjoy it overall though, especially Jo & Laurie.

My favorite quote:
"Polly began to squall and flap about in his cage, so I went to let him out, and found a big spider there. I poked it out, and it ran under the bookcase. Polly marched straight after it, stooped down and peeped under the bookcase, saying, in his funny way, with a cock of his eye, 'Come out and take a walk, my dear.' I couldn't help laughing, which made Poll swear, and Aunt woke up and scolded us both."

A beautiful book that was ahead of its time for a coming of age novel. It was a wonderful journey of womanhood and it's trials and tribulations and definitely a book i will find myself reaching for and I continue on my journey

It was good ig, liked the friendship between Jo and Laurie

A book of morals, certainly of it's time. It is a constant cycle of - this sister has a terrible terrible personality flaw e.g being too "boyish", something goes awry and they learn their lesson forever and become a good and worthy woman who knows her place in society! I can see how many parts would've been more relevant and progressive at the time but some parts like
Jo giving up writing because it's too scandalous and (apart from Jo) the ending point for all the sisters to be happy and dutiful wives
was quite disappointing and it is a relief to think that society has progressed since.
