I'm shocked that I liked this book, but there you have it. I usually prefer scifi/fantasy, but I have a massive crush on Lauren Graham, so had to read this. There was a definite Lorelei Gilmore vibe from the main character, but that is probably because I imagined Ms. Graham as playing Franny in the movie ;) Snappy dialogue, interesting characters, and I'm looking forward to her next book.

I really wanted to like this book because I adore Lauren Graham, but I just couldn't. There was no character development and the plot felt pretty flat. Thinking back on it, I can't remember much of what happened because nothing really happened at all. I wish there was more depth not just with Frannie, but with all of the characters.

I really enjoyed this. I didn't really know much about it, but I was searching our local library audiobooks for Lauren Graham's non-fiction, and came across her fiction. The audiobook is read by the author, and she writes (and reads) with the same quick wit that her character had on Gilmore Girls, making it a fast-paced little book (I had to slow the audio down to 1x due to Graham's reading speed!). It was fun and light, while still tackling some serious issues about growing up and reaching for your dreams. I would definitely recommend - particularly in audio format.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but I love Lauren Graham and the plot sounded fun. It was even better than I was expecting, honestly. Graham's main character, Franny, is kooky and flawed and easy to relate to and she does a good job fleshing out her characters to make them seem realistic. I loved all the 90's era references and Graham did a great job with tying themes together in the book. She follows a somewhat stereotypical formula but pokes fun at the formula while doing so. Add to this a little love story that has you rooting for a happy ending and a fun glimpse into the world of acting. I really enjoyed it and towards the second half just absolutely could not put it down.
