Wow - I rarely rate a book five stars and this is one of the few that I have rated 5 stars.
It was:
-Heartwarming
-Sad
-Somehow happy at the same time
-Funny
-The characters were great,
Spoiler Alfie was a little quick to get angry, but I don't blame him.
Roxy was kind of like Hermione Granger's sister or something (sorry) but for some reason I didn't really like her.

I think my rating speaks for itself, and the book was one of the best books I have ever read!
It was short, fact-paced and it was so exciting that I read it in *almost* one sitting!
It was interesting, intriguing and I was hooked right from the beginning.

I would recommend it to just about everyone who is into middle-grade or if you just like fact-paced and short books.

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I thought I would, the plot seemed interesting but when I read it, it was really confusing to separate out the times and characters and the ending the best part for me. About half way through I got really unmotivated to read it because I felt it was very complicated and I had to really work to understand.

I would recommend this book for the young audience it's intended for. It has lots of stuff that would be interesting for kids.

My only gripe is that almost every chapter finished with "and you won't believe what happened next"/ "but I was proven wrong almost immediately" etc. These kind of unnecessary cliffhangers? Why? The next chapter starts literally on the next page. It's not a serial in a newspaper and you need not amp up the tension.

This was an enjoyable middle-grade tale about Alfie and his goal to start aging again. All the characters were fun and quirky and the story was as well. It contained some important realizations and life lessons from Alfie. It's been a while since I last read middle-grade, but it didn't let me down. At one point I even laughed out loud, a lot.

Truly a heartfelt story of grief, loneliness, friendship and hope. I love how the little details in the first few chapters unravels themselves throughout the book.

& ooooh how I am in I love with Roxy

There are stories about people who want to live forever.
This is a story about someone who wants to stop.

Alfie Monk is like any other nearly teenage boy except he’s 1,000 years old and can remember the last Viking invasion of England.
When everything Alfie knows and loves is destroyed in a fire, and the modern world comes crashing in, Alfie embarks on a mission to find friendship, acceptance, and a different way to live which means finding a way to make sure he will eventually die.

I am not into fantasy at all.
This is my first one in some time.

I feel in love with the cover and the plot for this one.

And I must say, it is a rather cute story.

Great for 3rd or 4th grade kids. No real educational value but lot of great life lessons and it poses some interesting philosophical questions.
