Gripping and interesting read about the WWI era. Although the writing was a bit lacking and the story started to lose steam toward the end, I enjoyed the variety of different characters and topics/issues that were included.

One of my all-time favorite books! I'm so excited that this is the first book in a trilogy. I absolutely devoured all 900+ pages in a bit over a week. I've already started reading the second book, Winter of the World, and I'm already just as hooked.
