I hadn't read this for over twenty years, and it's much stronger than the recent installments, with a lot of detail of character and setting. Mma Ramotswe is a great character from the start, and you really feel Botswana as a place located in space and time.

More of a slice of life than a detective story, but sweet and fun and a love letter to southern Africa. I would have preferred an actually Black African audio reader, but Lisette Lecat does a great job differentiating accents etc.

Lovely little book, lots of fun.

far and away the most idyllic detective novel i have ever read. the whole novel i kept expecting, ok now the shit is going to hit the fan, but it never does. precious ramotswe is a 5 star character however. it was great to read about such a self possessed woman.
