Valkoisen miehen kirjoittama kirja botswanalaisesta naisesta. Siis plussaa kyllä siitä, miten vähän Mma Ramotswe pitää miehistä ja muutenkin tunnelmasta ja miinusta rutkasti esimerkiksi Mma Ramotswen koosta puhumisesta (jatkuvaa).

Cosy mystery in its most perfect form. I wanted her to give me life advice.

Nice easy reading:)

Read for the library book club (first book).

Mma Ramotswe is a wonderful character, tough and resourceful, but capable of being utterly distracted in a bookstore when she's supposed to be following someone. Lol

Thr book has an unusual structure for a mystery. Instead of one case, it has a flurry of little cases, most solved within a chapter, though there is one serious case that spans a larger percentage of the book.

I have the sense that the point of the book is to tell a western audience about Botswana. The mystery format is just a vehicle for that purpose. If so, that might explain the opening line's reference to Out of Africa (which starts "I had a farm in Africa at the foot of the __ hills.") Out of Africa is another white person's book about Africa, though the farm had considerably more assets than the detective agency, making the opening of this book a humorous contrast.
