I think that the The Plain Dealer review on the front cover sums this little gem of a book up nicely, "One of the best, most charming, honest, hilarious, and life-affirming books to appear in years". While sweet, this book did not feel exclusively like, what I call, "fluff" literature, which was my main fear when I chose this novel. I think I may even read the second in the series to see what happens to the very lovable (and sassy) main character!

I really enjoyed this book. I'm not a big fan of mysteries as a genre, so it took me a while to get around to reading this. What a pleasant surprise to watch a little slice of life, from a place I could not imagine, unfold in this delightful story. I was particularly touched by the very human way that people understand and misunderstand each other throughout the book, whether lovers, parents and children, or just two good friends. A very good read! I'm looking forward to more in this series.
