This books was everything I had hoped it would be.I loved the characters and the ending was everything I wanted. I think the feminism in this book was much more obvious in this book than the other Brontë novels I have read and I loved it.

Had no idea just how much I’d love this. A feminist novel with an epistolary framing between two men that implies a focus on how patriarchy gives men power yet… strips them of emotion, love, and ability to connect with not only women, but with each other as well. The descriptions here of drug addiction and drug interactions (the specificity of how alcohol interacts with opioids???) are stunning to read, and just when you think the novel can’t get any darker, it ends with hope. Adored this

This book was compelling and well paced. It felt surprisingly modern and the writing was very accessible. All the characters were frustrating at times, but very human. It didn’t rely on caricatures or cliches, but still felt universally accessible.  I really enjoyed this, and it held my attention from start to finish.
