FIVE STARS!!!!!
I love the story build-up. Unlike many recently written books, the characters didn't automatically meet and get together. Their love story progressed until a point where the author felt it was time to show something. We were anticipating when they would kiss or get closer but it took a while before they did. One of the reason I enjoyed this book was due to the build-up, great story lines, perfectly written, and it was just really amazing.

This book was cute but by no means a favorite. The cover is amazing, but misleading in my opinion. I can’t fully put my finger on why though.
Plot: I thought this book had a great concept, but I feel like it fell a little short of it’s potential. The plot was very predictable and I called pretty much everything way before it happened. The only reason I enjoyed this book was because of my love of Shakespeare, the theater nostalgia, and the cute friend to love romance.
Characters: I found it hard to get into the book at first because I really couldn’t connect with Meghan. She is the total opposite of me and I found her whiny and obnoxious a lot of the time (personal preference). Also I found it really irritating that she was so quick to shame the two other girls in the book for kissing a guy that had a girlfriend when she was no better. Owen is adorable and I loved him! The perfect best friend Madeline got on my nerves and I called her secret from the beginning. For some weird reason it bugged me that she was always called by her full name instead of a nickname like Maddie. This bugged me because it made the friendship feel insincere since most people I know call their best friend by some sort of a nickname. Will only existed to move the plot along and felt very irrelevant to me. I found myself rolling my eyes when he was mentioned. I wanted someone to punch Tyler in the face on multiple occasions.
Writing: The pacing was nice and I didn’t really feel the story drag in any place. The way the author described the theater environment and scenes brought back so much nostalgia for me. I could really tell that this author had some experience in high school theater.

I really enjoyed this book! I was exactly the kind of book I was looking for after finishing all of Ann Liang’s books and it definitely did not disappoint with such a cute romance! However the only reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars was the fact that she forgave her best friend so easily for actually taking her boyfriend and cheating and I know we find out he’s a douche at the end but still I didn’t like that at all also the fact that Owen had a girlfriend while they were flirting and then kissed wasn’t great either even though he broke up with her straight afterwards nonetheless it was still a really good book and I would definitely recommend it so someone looking for a cute romance!!

I thought this was a fun, fresh take on Romeo and Juliet!! Rosaline has never truly been done justice, and Megan perfectly captures her spirit and character. AND her romance with Owen and journey to self-discovery was flawless—the fearless girl x shy boy will always do it for me!!

One thing about me, is that I love a good retelling. More so, I love a Romeo and Juliet inspired novel. But this, this was something so much better.
It’s basically a story within a story. They’re acting out *Romeo and Juliet* while the actual play unfolds behind the scene somehow. Except not the romance between Romeo and Juliet themselves but the redemption arc of Rosalind and her true romance.
Megan (a silly name in my opinion) is super flirtatious, bold and provocative, things you don’t typically see I’m the main character, but I love it about her, even more, I love that she’s aware of this and is completely unashamed by it.
Maybe it’s because of my love for the Bard, maybe it’s my genuine appreciation for a good love story written for characters that aren’t two dimensional or fit into a typical rom com mould. But I honestly and wholeheartedly loved reading this book. Their romance, their friendship, their genuine love for the theatre, their friends, their family and each other made for the perfect love story between Megan and Owen.
