Pack Reject takes you on a roller coaster from the beginning to the cliffhanger ending. At the very beginning we meet Flor (Florida) our main character. Every time her name came up I kept singing it as Taylor Swifts song Florida! Pack life isn’t so great at the southern pack and being hunted is exhausting. Flor finds a way to escape by competing in the conclave. When she least expects it ,five guys claim that she is their mate. You will have to read to see how it unfolds.

I don't even know if I can do a review that brings this book justice! I love Merri Bright's books and this is some of her best work.
Flor is the pack reject and is hunted by the males in the pack. They hunt her because if they catch her they can force her to mate them and Flor is strong and has managed to keep away from them.
She wants to join the Enforcer Games because this can be her chance to escape and be free but other strong packs show up and things start to change.
So much happens in this book and it is so good. So many twist. Pack Reject is a slow burn book without a lot of spice but that is okay with me. That cliffhanger was killer though and can't wait for the next one.

I ADORED AND DEVOURED this book. It not only broke my heart but had me rooting for Flor. The spin the book took on the rejected mate trope was totally brilliant. And I’m hoping so much that things work out for certain characters in the next book. This is definitely a slow burn story with the focus being on the characters and because of that you fall in love with them. I loved Flor’s sass and her strength. I can’t wait for the next one!!
Merri Bright is a one click author for me as I love how she balances darker themes in her books with humour and this book is no exception. Flor has lived a really hard life as an outcast whilst being hunted by the males in her pack each night. When Flor gets the chance to escape she takes it as part of her plan to leave the pack for good.
Flor is so likeable; despite the brutal parts of her upbringing she still has snark and doesn't have a chip on her shoulder. It is heart breaking when you realise how bleak her life has been but she thinks that is just how life is, not knowing any different to Southern Pack's rules. I cannot wait to see how she develops in the rest of the series.
This is slow burn with the focus being on the politics and just how wrong Southern Pack are compared to the rest of the shifters rather than the romance. I'm interested to see how this going to unfold with the heirs being from different territories. Luke has my heart currently but Joachin is also one I have my eye on and I know I will love Finnick by the end too! Margarette however is amazing for the minute she is introduced. She is an icon and her stand off with Holly was such a highlight. I'm really looking forward to seeing Flor flourish alongside her.
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

This was my first read by Merri, and wow, it blew my socks off - what a fantastic read - this book has a bit of everything in it, fated mates / rejected mate / bully / strong FMC / emotional / PNR shifter. Once I started I couldn't put it down, stunning read!
Flor lives in the Southern pack, living being a strong word, she is abused and mistreated and for the past 4 years has been hunted by the males of the pack, if caught she will be forced to mate with them. Flor is crafty, intelligent and smart and has managed to hide from them when the hunt is on.
But her chance to get away is coming up - the Enforcer Games are coming to her pack, and this is her only chance to escape - by fighting in the games and being taken on as an Enforcer by one of the other packs.
Little does she know just how her world is going to chance when she meets the Alpha Heirs from the other packs......
Honestly what Flor went through in this is quite horrific and I really felt for her - the whole Southern pack is just plain awful and they deserve everything they get! The Alpha Heirs are all very different from each other but I loved how they all worked together for the good of Flor. But Flor is such a badass, she is so strong, but she still has lots to learn and lots to go through. Can't wait to go on that journey with her! Highly recommended reading!

I would feed her every delicacy she ever wanted, starting with the hearts of her enemies, if she would let me kill them for her.
📚 Story Review 📚
ALL THE STARS! I was so excited for Merri Bright to return to paranormal romance. Her The Forgotten Angel series remains one of my top reads, so I had high hopes for her wolf-shifter, rejected mates romance. She delivered exactly what I needed.
Once I started this book, I could not put it down. I was immediately pulled into Flor's story and the action didn't let up until that cliffhanger ending. Her strength, in spite of her trauma, is what drew me in. I cheered for her successes and wanted blood for the wrongs done to her.
Every time a new potential mate was introduced, I thought, "Oooh, he's my favorite." By the end, it was Joaquin who stole my heart. I would give my left tit to have a fated mate like him - willing to bring Flor the bodies of her enemies. (Unhinged MMCs always turn out to be my favorites. Sorry to the golden retriever types. I still like you; you fill a role, but give me someone stabby.)
This baby is a slow-burn why-choose romance with a slow-building harem.
Pack Reject is the first book in The Splintered Bond series, ending in a cliffhanger. I cannot wait for the next book.
HIGHLY recommended!
Thank you to Merri Bright for my ARC.

Dual-style narration by Allie Piper & Ryan Stone
I was so excited to get an advance copy of this book! The narration team was amazing - both VOs were able to nail the individual characters' accents. From Flor's southern drawl, to Brand's deep growl.
I found myself crying at several moments, that while they touched me when I read the ebook, hit even harder with the narrators' performances. Luke in Chapter 35 and that epilogue broke me.
So well done, I can't wait for the rest of this series to be made in audio!
Thank you to Merri Bright and Podium Audio for this ALC.

Please check all CW and TW before reading this one. Flor’s story was wow such heartbreak in her younger years. The fact that she is so resilient made her a truly likeable character. I liked that this one kept me on my toes.
