General Thoughts: General Thoughts: This was a challenging book to read but the writing was good. It felt intentionally enigmatic. I was intrigued by the characters and the magic. There were so many twists and turns that I never expected.
Characters: 3.5/5 - Some characters I loved the more I kept reading, others weren’t great people, it didn’t feel like and/or were harder to read.
Atmosphere/Setting: 5/5 - The atmosphere and setting kept me grounded this whole read. And I loved that we got to see the library! Too many times there are fantasy books that have a magical library which we don’t get to see.
Writing Style: 3/5 - It was challenging. I can’t really explain why it was challenging, I just know that for me - at where my brain power was at the time of reading this - it was challenging for me. But still good! Challenging in a good way, not in a “this is bad writing” way.
Plot: 5/5 - I never saw that ending coming!!!
Intrigue: 5/5 - To the very last page!
Logic: 3/5 - It didn’t all make sense, but I also don’t know if it was all supposed to make sense. It still felt even though some things were explained that the characters know more than the readers do.
Enjoyment: 4/5 - I enjoyed reading it, I’m glad that I did but probably a book that I won’t understand anymore on reread.
Audiobook Narrator: 4/5 - Hillary Huber - Huber’s reading pace was a little bit slow for my reading audiobook preference, I had to speed her up a little. But there were times when her narration definitely kept me reading.
Total: 32.5/8 = 4.06

Awesome fantasy-horror story.
Only thing that grated was that some of the characters were pretty one-dimensional.

this is book six of our book club high strangeness and it was by far the strangest.
it is this weird mix of fantasy and horror, funny and absurd at times and heartfelt at others. i never at any point knew or could even guess what was gonna happen next. i liked the pov switches and how it added new dimensions to the characters and story. despite the confusing premise and weird situations, the book remains very clear in its language and pacing which makes it an easy read.

Call me Jon Snow because I know nothing. I was throughly confused in the beginning, with the confusion slightly dissipating throughout the book. Like it started to kinda make sense, but I still have questions. I’m not even sure how to rate this book. I liked parts of the book, but it took a long time for me to even get into it due to utter confusion. I kept wanting to read something else. But then it started to get really wack-a-doo and I wanted to read it to figure what the heck was going on. In summary: 🤷🏻♀️.
