I went in not knowing what to expect, and it was lovely to listen to! I felt like it was more of a childrens/YA book...minus the brief (but descriptive) sexual content. The love interest dynamic was a bit forced. But you can suspend disbelief with it being fantasy, I think.

It was just the most enjoyable experience listening to this book. I loved the movie and I was interested to see how much Hollywood-ing happened in the movie. The book felt more like a cosy story to tell children and Neil Gaiman has an amazing reading voice.

I came into this novel already in love with the movie.

The first half of the book exceeded expectations. There was more character depth and more characters.

The second half of the book was a bit of a let down. In comparison with the movie, it was just not as thrilling or climatic.
