I’ve only ever heard good things about this but honestly, idk how I feel about it. The start was rocky for me. Yona having a crush on her cousin and that being the driving force is ..yuck lmao. But also I found her annoying.
I’m gonna give it 2-3 volumes and see if it gets any better. I have vol 2 ready to go and I want to believe there’s potential for it to be great.

Whaaaaat?!?! i came into the series fairly blind besides people telling me that it's good and this thing had me audibly gasping in shock. I thought it was gonna be a romance series, based on the opening something along the lines of Yona trying to convince her dad for it to be okay to marry her cousin or somehow working through those feelings into something more acceptable by the dad. Let me just say I was off. I was WAAAYYY OFF. holy shit. my heart breaks for her.

there are multiple scenes with visible blood but it's brief. also the main protagonist sees her father murdered, the reader sees the silhouettes of the figures during the stabbing and we later see the father dead on the floor. A guard member that helps the girl escape is shot with an arrow and presumed dead.

I've heard MANY people rec this manga and honestly it stands up pretty well! The art style is simplistic but very dreamy and beautiful. The story is compelling right from the beginning and much sadder than I thought it would be but I did go into this story mostly blind so I didn't have anywhere to come from.
I'm really interested to see how this will go -- how the plot will progress, how Yona and Hak will come to grips with and deal with Soo-won's betrayal after the initial shock of it all wears off. I'm locked in!
