I wish I had found this series when I was a young adult to be in the same age group as the main characters, but it was still very enjoyable to read as an adult.
It was a book where I genuinely wanted to keep flipping the page and read until the finish. The main character, Cassie, is written to be intelligent and likeable. The ensemble of supporting characters each have their own 'talent' as well, which sort of felt like people were designated a corny 'superpower'; however, Barnes wrote plausible reasoning as to why each teenager's troubled past would make them so excellent at their skill. The dialogue and word choices were written well, and I liked the fast pacing and mystery of the plot. Barnes is educated in psychology herself, so I felt like I learnt about profiling skills and criminology.
The plot twist landed for me and I was surprised at the identity of the UnSub (though I'm not the kind of reader that likes to try and deduce "whodunnit" myself and prefer to be taken along the narrative). Although love triangles can be irritating if done wrong, especially since they seem to be recurrent in YA fiction, I did enjoy the tension and indecision that Cassie has to undergo as she shares intimate moments with both boys. I had moments of 'kicking my feet giggling' butterflies, and because it's a teen romance, it didn't feel particularly rushed or forced.

4.5 ⭐️ Já nem me lembro da última vez que li um livro num único dia, não sei se isso é sinónimo de não ter nada para fazer (factos) ou do quão viciante é este livro (factos também). Como fiel fã de Criminal Minds, estava escrito nas estrelas que ia gostar deste livro. Tem uma escrita fácil, fluída, os capítulos são pequenos e damos por nós a devorar esta história em 2 segundos. Não adivinhei quem era o unsub (surpreende um total de 0 pessoas) e fiquei completamente abesbilica porque estava longe de ser uma das minhas opções, mas é exatamente isso que adoro em livros deste género. Que venha o próximo!
