I feel like this book was just... fine. Curiously, for a book with a title that implies it will be about mental states, everything felt kind of detached? And even with what seems to be a locked-room murder mystery, but also a lot of other stuff around the edges, it never really felt compelling or intriguing enough to me. I think part of it is that the approach to time travel was very much "everything that was going to happen will happen and we cannot prevent or change it, it's fate" rather than what I prefer, which is more "what if we could see DINOSAURS" or "what if we create a paradox and I disappear from this snapshot because my mom has a crush on me".

The psychology of time travel is that everyone is a piece of shit.

Interesting exploration of closed loop time travel where women are nearly all of the main time travelers, and hold all (I think) of the points of view, at least in part. Might make an interesting comparison to [b:The Calculating Stars|33080122|The Calculating Stars (Lady Astronaut, #1)|Mary Robinette Kowal|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1539850192s/33080122.jpg|53735352].

I liked the concept, the world-building, and the characters, but it didn't quite click together for me. I couldn't keep track of the time threads (maybe if I'd had a physical copy I could easily flip back and forth between sections). Would read more by this author though.

Possibly I was in the wrong mood for this book; although I appreciated its cleverness, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the author's other work, even though I generally adore time travel fiction.
